Notification Requirements

Notification requirements for UK Border Agency (Customs and Immigration) and Police (Special Branch)

For Common Travel Area (CTA) and international arrivals and departures, Coventry Airport requires a completed General Aviation Report (GAR) form to be completed which can be submitted via the new GOV website 'Submit a GAR' at www.gov.uk/submit-gar

You’ll need the following:

  • Aircraft details (including registration number and base)
  • Arrival and departure details (date, location and scheduled times)
  • Captain, crew and passenger details (including travel document information and UK visiting address)
  • Name and telephone number of the person responsible for goods on board
  • Aircraft tax information (whether taxes have been paid and accounted for in the EU)

You can also submit a GAR by email;

Send the General Aviation Report form, to the National Co-Ordination Unit (NCU) at ncu@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk.

You should title your email: ‘GAR, airfield registration, name of airfield, postcode of airfield (if known)’.

NOTE: Airport Operations will always pass GARs on to the relevant authorities when received during our normal working hours (0900-1800 Mon-Sun). UK VISA Requirements

Passengers or crew from certain non-EU countries must hold UK Visas, others may not even transit through the airport without a UK Visa. Please check the list of countries to which this applies on the UK Border Agency website here.

Regardless of pre-notification, passengers or crew from these countries will have to have passports and visas verified by UK Border Agency officers through the Coventry Airport Executive Jet Centre. To facilitate the clearance of any non-EU passengers or crew on international flights, operators may also wish to complete the UK Border Agency Clearance form MBAC/1 (Landing Card) and submit it to the Airport Operations team.
